I was thinking more along the lines of starting it higher up on Fifth Avenue and then, say at 106th Street, turning it towards East Harlem--what Fernando Salicrup has called "bending the mile" in reference to the Museum Mile.

This way, el Museo becomes a station along the way--sort of mid-point--in contrast to what happens now which leaves ALL of East Harlem with NOTHING.

The parade, I think already peters out around 86th St. (1 mile below whare it could go!!).

Shame on those organizers!!! for snubbing us.

Remember,
The parade has a lot to do with money. All major events have money as the reason for being. Our parade is very much organized and controlled from the Bronx. I often ask myself, would anyone organize a parade, event, street festival if no money was to be made from it. I fear that the answer is no. Many veil these money making events under the guise of pride or patriotism, but unremakable, money is the reason for it all.

I say all this to make the point that although we may wish the parade to come into East Harlem, that unless there is some monetary gain, it won't happen. In other words, why should organizers change it?
