Liberals Blame Misery on President Bush

East Harlem, August 5, 2005. America's crazys reacted knee jerk style after Hurrican Katrina hit New Orleans, by blaming President Bush for moving too slowly. Congressional "leaders" and the left wing media spent all of Friday reporting about the Federal Government being "Too Little Too Late".

In the media's haste to bash President Bush, they lost their common reporting sense. Every where the media turned misery was there to be reported about. And yes there was (and is) enough misery to cover three southern states (Louisiana, Alabama and parts of Mississippi).

How the media expects there to be no misery is beyond this writer's comprehension. How the media expects the US Federal government to ensure that every single person and every single acre of land is "taken care of" by the fourth day is beyond reason. Yet this is exactly the media expects by the way it is reporting the news.

Some facts are in order. The Hurricane hit Monday. No way to tell what is damaged and who is hurt until it passes. Tuesday, is spent getting to places to assess the damage. No single entity can be at all places in such a short period of time to give a complete picture. Wednesday, progress is being made with the assessment. Relief can be brought in, but it can't be at all places within a 24 hours period. Thursday, a better picture emerges as to what needs to be done. The bigger the picture of what needs to be done, the more planning is needed to get things in order to do them. Since we are talking about three states, it has to be planned right, done right. Yet left wing wackos begin their howling basically calling for everyone to be helped at once! Which we all know is not possible in such a short period of time. Massive amounts of relief materials and workers have to be organized and moved.

Now that relief is getting into the states, the media has shifted its focus to what could have been done (bad hindsight) and how many have suffered. Congressional "leaders" including some from New York protested that the President was too late, that he may have been biased. Kinda silly since the south voted for the President.

In a time a crisis doesn't the nation deserve the leadership of this country to present a united front, to rally all of us to get involved and or give? But that is not what the Democratic Leadership of this country did. They decided to make this a partisan political issue. And for the second time in my life I am ashamed to be called a Democrat (the first being when the democrats in congress walked out of the capital in protest of the impeachment of President Clinton, when they should have been embarrassed for the nation and impeached him for abusing his power over a subordinate. Democrats are funny, when it came to Sen. Packwood, it was "get rid of him, he is abusing women", but when President Clinton did it, it became a private matter. But who ever said liberals have morals?

This writer does not believe we should have two sets of rules, one for democrats in office and another for republicans in office. As a Christian I believe that when either do wrong, they should suffer the consequences.

Today the wackos marched in New York City against the President for what they consider his slowness in getting aid to the south. Where were they when Clinton sent troops to Africa? Where were they when the Cubans and Sandinistas killed political prisoners? When will they speak about the atrociies occuring in China, North Korea? But they won't as they love those socialist/communist countries. A pity they don't move there and let the rest of us freedom loving people live without their complaints.

In short it is a shame that four days after this nation's biggest natural disaster that Democrats, Liberals, Wackos,(ooops, same thing) are throwing stones instead of lending a hand.

Let's get real here ...

With all due respect, you distort the nature of most critics of the government's failure to provide more immediate support to the victims of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana, Mississippi (and elsewhere). In fact, it was not the “crazy left” (whatever that means) that initiated the call for action.

In fact, it was New Orleans’ own finest. It was Ray Nagin, Mayor of New Orleans, who first shamed the President on national television for ignoring repeated requests for assistance. It was writer Anne Rice, who blasted the media for their racist coverage in a New York Times editorial. It was New Orleans native Jazz musician Wynton Marsalis who issued a call for rescue support and racial tolerance on CNN’s Larry King Live. It was New Orleans’ own newspaper, the Times-Picayune of New Orleans, which blasted the President with a front page editorial. And here in New York, even Republican mayor Bloomberg condemned the late response.

Try as you might, there is no way to excuse the fact that our President spent Tuesday – the day AFTER the storm had killed hundreds of American citizens – playing the guitar at a California fundraiser. Not to mention the fact the he did not return to work until Wednesday, and did not call in the National Guard (and other support) until after Thursday.

It is not a partisan issue. It is an issue of incompetence, at best, and callous disregard for human life, at worst.

I have to strongly disagree. First the City of New Orleans and the State of LA are not the least corrupt government in the world. Remember, the mayor of New Orleans, got all the tourist in that hotel out and left his own citizens there for another day to rot. So much for the Democratic response.

In most state, the state is primarily responsible for the initial stages of an emergency. It is the state who does the initial assessment and then invites the federal government in.

I don't understand the media's insistence (except for the great fox news channel) that everyone be taken care of at once. It can not be done. I wish it could myself, but it takes time to reach people. Even former President Clinton can tell you that it takes time to reach everyone.

I rode through those three states on my way to New Orleans in 1985 (via bus) and it took the better part of a half a day. Imagine having to walk through every acre looking and asking if people need help.

That's is what I mean by it takes time. And if it is to be done right, it needs to be planned. So I am not saying don't take care of everyone, but that realistically, emotions aside, it takes time to get people in place and move them to where they can assist those in need, victims.

I don't buy the arguments of racism. A poll released today has most American's argreeing with me in that this is not racial issue. I can bet a million dollars that if the President of the US were a Democrat, the media would give him all the time in the world to get this done right.

Remember, this a America's biggest Natural Disaster, affecting three states. It is not reasonable to expect all victims to be taken care of within the first month let alone the first four days. It's is a shame that demonic, I mean the Democratic congress people started this "hatefull" tirade and hence atitude against the President instead of lending a hand as they would have in 1969 for Hurricane Camile. There was no Congressional howling against then President Nixon, all chipped in to help, not to critisize. It is so obvious to me, why are current Democrats so eager to try to exploit human misery for political motives? It is shamefull. I sure am glad that there is a God who will reconcile and breath justice into this issue some time in the future.

Lastly, how is it possible for the City of New Orleans and the State of Louisiana not to share the blame for not being prepared for this disaster? Could it be that they have no blame just because they are Democrats? Those Levees could have been made stronger during the Clinton Administration, but that did not happen. Is Clinton to blame? And doesn't the state of Louisina share blame for also not getting into New Orleans quicker? It can't be that if there is blame for anything that only Republicans are at fault.

You would have to then excuse duly elected city and state officials from blame when they are closer to the situation and bare more responsibility (for their citizens and area) than does the federal government. Any political science person will lay the blame on the city, state and federal government, not just on the feds. Since one party is not soely responsible for the area then all parties must share the blame if blame to be attributed. And I would only blame the city, state and federal gov't, Democrats and Republicans for the levee situation. The Hurrican is weather and can't be blamed as it is not an entity. The way Democratic Congressional people are howling you'd think they blame the President for the Hurricane too!

I would love to see how the New York Times, or CNN could have possibly done better than the President. They could not. With the media one has to remember that it is always easier to throw stones (writing criticism) than to actually do something (manage a huge natural disaster). The two activities don't compare.

Hope all is fine with you. Love ya. What do ya say.
