Smile Puerto Rican day Parade

Jose,
Is east-Harlem.com going to have a float in the Puerto Rican day parade I hope it does. all of east harlem is going to be there and it would be the best way to get everyone involved in the web site. people will remember the name of the web site just by looking at the float, with music and not to mention a pretty girl like me on the float too! (hehehe)
Please let me know what your plans are, i would love to volunteer my time.

Too Much Money

Kristina Elena,
East Harlem Online will not be able to participate in the parade.
It costs too much money to be a participant. Sorry.

Thanks for asking, maybe someday.

Jose

I am truly disappointed to hear that news.
There is a lot of money involved, I didn't realize. What Puerto Rican or Latin companies do you think could sponsor our float? We belong there, it's our business to be there. ( your business really) but you get what I am saying. When I become Rich and Famous I would definitely contribute to our Community. East-Harlem.com should have a float there and they should pay us to be there too! Another good idea I think.....is to walk behind a flaot and hand out flyers that say east-harlem.com and wear T-Shirts that say East-Harlem.com
I dont know, these are just crazy ideas to get more people involved.

Harlm Block Party

How about the block party the day before the Puerto Rican Parade. Will you be having a booth? This would be a great way to advertise. Maybe some T-shirts also.

Harlem Parade T-Shits

I dont know anything about making T-shirts but It would be great to advertise the web site. I grew up in East Harlem and live in Florida now. I have been trying to find my old friends from Harlem. My elementary schools and JHS were right across from each other, PS80 and JHS45 (120th Street and 1st Ave). Im sure there are alot of other people who are trying to find their old friends also.

I'm suggesting a Logo for the T-shirts. Something like, "Find Your Harlem friends in East-Harlem.Com

What do you think?

It's a thought, but my tee shirt is just going to say east-harlem.com
In bold & simple letters so no one will forget the web site name.

East-Harlem.Com T Shirts

Well Ill probably be the first to purchase the first dozen.

Keep me posted on any new ideas.

I can just imagine the T-shirts all over the US. We have so many people all over that grew up in Harlem.

Good luck Jose

Tee Shirts,... Ballcaps!

I have been thinking about t-shirts since two summers ago. I am just having a problem locating a vendor who does the printing process inexpensively. I don't want the shirts to cost too much. If you know of any, let me know.

Jose

Oh, how about ballcaps too?

Hey Jose!
good to hear from you.
Ball caps will be price-y....But a cool idea, that involves embroidery.
The tee shirt idea, I wasnt thinking in quantity, Just a couple to make for my friends & I.
Finding a vendor isnt the problem ( I am a Fashion Merchandising Major rememeber)
it just depends on the quantity and how much you want to spend.
E mail me at AOL OK!

Kritina Elena,
Welcome back.
I was thinking of an initial run of
2 dozen tee-shirts (24). Do you know what
that would cost? And how much printing would cost?

T-Shirts

2-dozen? I dont know if that's enough but when everyone on this website finds out East Harlem.Com has T-shirts your going to find people that don't even surf or are familiar with the web site start asking for them also. So, you better get ready.

Great advertisement for the website.

Could somebody tell/explain to me WHY the Puertorican Day Parade does not culminate/end up in Museo del Barrio?

The organizers ought to either extend it (i.e. make it longer) OR simply start higher up so that it can end higher up.

The Parade could then become the Party on the Streets of East Harlem!

I have often asked myself this same question with a little different twist. Why shouldn't the parade go up Third Avenue when it get's to East Harlem? Of course as nechodoma@juno has stated it should come up to El Barrio first, but if and when it does, it should go up Third Avenue, which is wide and very well populated and visited.

That way we can enjoy the parade from our homes, windows, streets. Less people would have to travel downtown and have limited or no access to rest rooms, food, etc. You could still start it downtown for those who don't wish to be in El Barrio (yes some won't want to be here).
