remembering the good things we did for the people of east harlem

I hung out on 105 street on 1 st ave in the 1950s.I remember my friends and I helping the local blind man cross the busy street. I remember carrying the groceries for the older people.Walking people to their apt doors at night to make sure tha they where safe, I'm sure a lot of kids did that also. a lot of possitive things were done, that I think people should know about, and I'm talking about some tough kids.I just felt that all people should know that east harlem wasn't only about gang fights then. The people, the times, were the best years of my life. I live in connecticut now ,I think alot about those days. I hope I didn't bore you.
