:(I don't live in New York City, but I'm very troubled by the local political representation that is emerging. East Harlem should be totally represented by latinos. I'm not racist but protective of my own!! Are there any latinos representatives in the african american side of Harlem!!! We need to take charge of our community and not let others dictate!!! YOU NEED TO START KNOCKING DOORS IN THE BARRIO!!! I HAVE FAMILY MEMBERS THAT ARE VERY WILLING TO PARTICIPATE AND COLLEGE EDUCATED THAT ARE NOT CALLED UPON!!! YOU NEED TO REACH OUT: SOME OF THEM ARE D.C. DOING INTERNSHIPS, YOU NEED TO APPROACH THEM THRU THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS, INQUIRE, BE MORE POSITIVE ABOUT THE PUERTORICAN YOUTH IN THE BARRIO!!!! THEY NEED TO BE APPROACHED!!!

Seriously Nuni, you are right. When it comes to El Barrio, we should be represented by our own. And yes, you don't see a Latino being elected in Harlem. We are too generous here in El Barrio.

But we are too factionalized and our Elder elected officials worry too much about their re-elections and money from institutions to fight for the cause.
