While doing some research , I came across the following,
East Harlem author, Nicholosa MOHR, was awarded a Hispanic Heritage Award Medallion, at the John F Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, on 9/22/97 for her contributions to Literature.
I have read one of her books, In NUEVA YORK. Many of Mohr's books are about characters growing up in Hispanic neighborhoods in New York City.

I am missing what you are trying to say.

The point is that this award is given to Hispanice Americans who have made a significant contribution to our nation. Since Ms Mohr came from El Barrio, isn't. that is worth mentioning on this board? Bridget

Oh, of course you are right. My apologies. I misunderstood your first post. I thought something was missing. You were making a statement. My mistake.
