Miriam Falcon Lopez, Assemblyman Adam Clayton Powell IV's District Administrator has declared her candidacy for the city council. She will enter a crowded field of candidates including community board member, Edwin Marcial, Journalist, Felipe Luciano, community school board member, Mee Ling Eng, and incumbent Councilman Phil Reed.

Those of you invoved in East Harlem community activism know Miriam well. Those of you who don't know her, will be in for a treat. She speak well and gets her point across. Some would call her intelligence with a sharp edge. To me, she is just Miriam.

What do you think about Miriam's run for East Harlem's City Council seat? Do you like her, love her, want to support her, or run to the opposition?

If you wish to read more about this visit the East Harlem Online web site and go to: http://www.east-harlem.com/miriam_falcon_lopez.htm

Don't know much about this lady, but the rumor out in the streets is she is running to purposely split the vote so that incumbent Phil Reed will win the primary.

Rumors are numerous in political campaigns though. This very same rumor can be said of all the candidates except for Reed. Anytime there are more than 2 people in a race for office in El Barrio, this little rumor springs forth. Can anyone verify this one though?
