on 106th street this past weekend. Anybody else there that checks in here? What were your thoughts about it? Seemed real dead to me, did anybody get the word out before it happened???

Have You Been To Any Of The Other CelebrationS? The First 4 Were Conducted In August. The First 3 Were Implemented By A Different Chair Person. This Is The First May Arts Celebration But The Fifth Annual Arts Networking Celebration.

the last one I went to was 3 years ago. I might have an excuse, I was out of NYC from 9/2005 through 1/2008 =)

Yes You Went To The Second Annual In August Of 2005. I Don't Know How You Would Compare The 2005 To The 2008 But I Was At The 2005 And I Taped The Total Days Events. The Last Poetic Preformed In This Event And The Apollo Theatre Selected A Female Violinist To Their Amateur Night. As Stated Before The First 3 Events Were Organized And Publicized By 2-3 Members Of The Arts And Cultural Committee, Several Volunteers And Some Public Board Members. The Chairperson Who Founded And Implemented The Arts And Cultural Networking Celebration In 2004, 2005 And 2006 Was Taina Traverso.

for the info about the first ones. No, I could not compare the 2 at all. Maybe I was remembering a different arts festival, but like I said this one was completely dead out there. Organizers obviously did not do a good job.

I Have Nothing Against Advertising Via Computer Etc. But In The Past Events Advertising Was More Old Fashion Posters And Good Old Mouth To Mouth.....the Advertising Done For This Event Was Mostly High Tech...ie....virtual Boriqua, East Harlem Preservation, Cb 11 Website.

Word of mouth is ALWAYS better to get word out, but I was surprised to see that there werent even flyers up in local businesses or nothin!

They Obvioulsy Thought It Was An Easy Task....so They Stole The Events From The Creator And Took Out The Spirit And Passion Of The Event. However Another Arts Festival Is Coming I Think On Saturday May 31st. This Group Had Its First Arts Festival In June Of 2004

Good to know. Not sure if I can make that one, or if BH is scheduled to perform. If so, I'd love to see what turnout looks like.

Art Festival Scheduled For 6/21/08 Has Been Cancelled. Not Surprised....the True Goal Was Always To Be First In Somewhat Of An Elitist Planning Style. Going In The Wrong Direction Anyway But Still Viable Source Of Artist Enpowerment. Sorry To See It Go

I Am Happy To See Someone Is Trying To Resurrect The Art And Cultural (multicultural) Networking Festival With Another Name And Date. This Is The First Time This Particular Festival Is Implemented. However This Is Latino Empowerment, Not Multiculturally Advertised?...nonetheless Hope This One Can Truly Replace The Spirit Of The OriginAL (Although With Its Already Limited Focus)....

the arts festival planned for sept 6th was a victim of some hurricane...maybe PRACA needs so be more open about its sponsorship and get more prayer and less resistance. Nature is a trip maybe next year she will be more kind.

The Festival Cancelled Back In The Summer Due To The Rain Storm Will Be Held On Oct 18th Saturday On 106th Street Between 3rd And Lexington...it Promises To Be A Good Day And The Festival Sponsored By Praca Will Be A Success....don't Miss It.

The Arts Festival In White Park On 10/18/08 Was A Welcomed Success. The Intimate Nature Of The Celebration Was Good, Surpassing Attempts By Others In Its Connectiveness With The People Of East Harlem. More Vendors Would Of Helped And Basketball Playing Was Out Of Place.....with A Permit You Could Enforce, The Basketball Could Have Been Stopped....
