Orchestra Flamboyan
During the time of the band's - "leader" Frankie Dante - glory days I remember attending -for various reasons- "Centers" in Public School 101 and also in Intermediate School 117.
One room had a record player that was used to play whatever the members brought (for the evening) from home. Also in the same room you learned how to make key chains - long before the term "Latch-key Kids" was popularized by the media - by intertwining long, thin strips of colorful plastics in "Cobra," "Box," "Diamond," and other stitch patterns.
The gymnasium was supervised by a guy of whom played a decent game of basketball and so happened to be the timbales player for Orquestra Flamboyan.
