Plumm,
Are you taking about finding places to eat in El Barrio or
New York City in general? In El Barrio, you would go
to East 116th Street, though there are other
Mexican places to eat throughout El Barrio too.

But the first place you should go to is East 116th Street
between Pleasant and 3rd Avenues. Excellent food.

I find the best food in East Harlem to be on 116th street between 2nd and 3rd Ave. I grew up in East Harlem and to this date the best Puerto Rican food is still served on 116th street just before "La Marqueta"

marthadel,
I am going to have to check it out. I am not
sure if the place you mentioned is still there.
It's funny what you wrote, "116th street between 2nd and 3rd Ave...just before "La Marqueta"".
The Marqueta is on Park Avenue and you wrote it was between 2nd and 3rd. So now I am confused.
Where should I look for this place?

I love Spanish food. And lately I have been eating some really delicious Dominican food at "Floridita" on 126th and Broadway. If you ever come back this way, you need to try it.

The restaurante formerly known as George and Gina's has been renovated and has reopened!!!
It is bigger and nicer. You should see it.
Pay a visit.

Hey Jose,

For some of the best Puertorican food you'll find anywhere in Nu Yawk, check out EL DEPORTIVO restaurant on 49th and 9th avenue in mid-town manhattan or formally known as "Hell's Kitchen".

The place serves excellent food and also serves as a watering hole for many musicians that come from Puerto Rico to play here in the city. Guys like Gilberto Santa Rosa, Roberto Roena, Andy Montaņez and even legendary Vitin Aviles who lives 7 blocks away from the place have frequented the establishment. But the food is what stands out most of all.....
